QUAA Quality Code
A public framework for educational quality, academic integrity and responsible institutional governance.
Purpose and scope
The QUAA Quality Code offers a structured reference for education providers, evaluation teams and interested learners. It helps translate broad expectations of quality into observable institutional evidence. It is an original QUAA framework informed by published international quality-assurance principles; it is not the UK QAA Quality Code and does not confer statutory authority.
Institutional commitments
Leadership should describe who makes academic decisions, how conflicts are managed, and how risks are escalated. Programme pages should identify the responsible teaching provider, any award-granting entity, the precise qualification type and relevant limitations. Institutional data should be accurate, current and attributable to an accountable owner.
Learning and the student experience
Learning outcomes should match the level and workload of a programme, with teaching activities and assessments that fairly test those outcomes. Quality expectations also cover qualified teaching and support personnel, digital access, student voice, accessible complaint routes, safe academic records and fair treatment. Evidence can include policies, anonymised samples and observed practice.
Assessment and improvement
Providers should evaluate delivery over time rather than relying on written intentions. Review teams look for measured outcomes, issues identified, corrective steps assigned, changes implemented and evidence that those changes worked. The Code supports proportionate review across face-to-face, blended and fully digital provision.
How this code is used
Read the relevant QUAA scheme handbook before requesting assessment. The applicable criteria and version must be agreed within the documented review scope. Compliance with a Code provision, or reference to it on an institution website, is not itself a QUAA award, an external accreditation certificate or national authorization.
